Skip Holtz

Football coach Skip Holtz is heading to the University of South Florida

Sources close to the ECU football program told News 14 Carolina that Skip Holtz held a meeting with the team and announced he’s leaving to join USF. Skip Holtz has many ties to the area, including his parents, who live in Orlando, and his wife, who is from nearby Port Charlotte.

The move also puts Skip Holtz at the head of a BCS-eligible team in the Big East.

During his tenure at ECU, Holtz guided the Pirates to back-to-back Conference USA championships and two Liberty Bowl appearances.

He will take over for the recently fired Jim Leavitt.
